As we welcome all our students back to school on Monday, January 10, we share the following enhanced school safety plans and details for your information. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Coast Mountains School District has worked closely with our public health officials and carefully followed their guidance. The health, safety and well-being of students, you as families and staff remains our priority. Thank you to our students, staff, families, partner groups, and community partners for their ongoing work in helping respond to this pandemic.
In schools, we have implemented health and safety measures as advised by public health, and have carefully followed the K-12 January 2022 Health & Safety Addendum in the enhancement of our school safety plans for the return of students on January 10 to reduce the risk of COVID transmission in schools. Enhanced measures include:
- Implement strategies that prevent crowding during class transition times.
- Hold school gatherings and events virtually. If they must be in-person, limit the number of people to no more than 50% operating capacity.
- Hold staff-only gatherings virtually whenever possible.
- Limit visitors to those who are supporting activities that directly benefit student learning and well-being.
- Pause extracurricular sports tournaments.
Each school has developed a site-specific Communicable Disease Prevention Plan related to their contexts or uniqueness as shared below and posted to school websites. If you have a question about your school’s measures, please reach out to your School Principal.
